A William Smith alumna is being featured in two separate exhibitions this month. Kate Benson ’01 will have her artwork on display in two shows titled “A Taste of Boston” and “Sources, Origins.”
“A Taste of Boston” takes place from April 6 to 9 in Boston at the 808 Gallery, where Benson’s work has been showcased before. The event is an annual fundraiser on the Boston University campus, which features artwork from a number of artists from the Boston area. The event has open gallery hours as well as an auction on Friday, April 8 of artists’ works.
“Sources, Origins” is a national, juried show in Cohasset, Mass., from April 15 to May 22. Benson received an honorable mention in the show, with one of her pieces being featured in the exhibition. The event will take place in the South Shore Art Center.
Benson majored in religious studies while on campus, as well as double minored in aesthetics and studio art. She studied abroad in Galway, Ireland while at the Colleges. After graduation, she went on to obtain a post-baccalaureate certificate from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and a MFA from Boston University.
