The HWS Concert Advisory Committee will welcome hip/hop group, Chiddy Bang, to campus for a concert in the Bristol Field House on Sunday, Jan. 27.
The doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and the opening act, Hoodie Allen, will take the stage at 8 p.m. Tickets are available to members of the HWS community only. However, faculty, staff, and students are allowed to pre-register one guest each. Tickets will go on sale when students return from winter break. Prices for students are $10 and $15 for pre-registered guests. More information on ticket sales will be made available in mid-January.
The genre selection for the spring show was based on a survey that the CAC distributed to the entire student body. This fall, hip-hop/rap was chosen as the top genre students wanted to see for the spring concert. After determining the genre, the members of the CAC went to work juggling artist availability, artist price, production price, venue availability, and available dates to create the best concert for the students.
Chiddy Bang is an alternative hip hop duo from Philadelphia, Pa., consisting of Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege, and Noah “Xaphoon Jones” Beresin. The pair rose to international prominence in 2010 with the release of their major-label debut single “Opposite of Adults” which peaked within the Top 20 on various singles charts worldwide including the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Belgium.
The CAC originated in the fall of 2011 and consists of a group of students that represent the diversity of the HWS student body with expertise in concerts and event coordination. The committee meets throughout the semester to plan upcoming concerts and goes through an intensive planning process to ensure they host a concert that best meets the interests of the HWS student body.
