On Friday, May 3, William Smith a cappella group Three Miles Lost will perform its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. in Trinity Church on South Main Street. The group will honor three graduating seniors, and 3ML alumnae Grace Hunt ’12, Emily Jarecki ’12, Molly Troy ’12 and Caroline Spruill ’12. In addition, Kelly Biggs ’11, Kendall Griffith ’10, Heather Ogletree ’09 and Deanna Stuart ’08 will return for a 3ML reunion.
The concert represents a chance for alums to reunite with friends made from the group, and highlight the networks that evolve through participation on campus. “We are hoping to have women from almost six generations of 3ML join us for the reunion,” says Biggs. “It is amazing to see how the group has grown over time.”
Biggs says that the group has transformed immensely. From the time she joined in the fall of 2007 to when she graduated in May 2011, 3ML has traveled and performed with renowned a cappella groups across the country and have won competitive performances including “The Sing On” competition, which earned the group an opportunity to open for Ben Folds at the Smith Opera House.
The talent level of the group builds off of the women who continue to join 3ML, says Biggs. “Events like this are important for the HWS community because they reinforce the unique relationships you are able to create at HWS.”
Spruill agrees. “3ML became a family for me throughout my four years at HWS.”
3 Miles Lost is a student club that formed in spring 2002 and had its first concert in fall 2002.
