The Colleges will welcome to campus the alumna speaker Sarah Canavan ’11 on Monday, Sept. 23. Canavan ’11 will address her fellow Herons in a talk sponsored by the Office of the William Smith Deans.
Beginning at 5 p.m. in the Geneva Room of the Warren Hunting Smith Library, Canavan will discuss the topic “HWS to Graduate School: Writing and Rhetoric Style.”
Canavan graduated from William Smith with a bachelor’s degree in Writing and Rhetoric. On campus, she served as a writing colleague for the Center for Teaching and Learning, and was a graduate of the Centennial Center for Leadership’s HWS Leads certification program.
Currently, Canavan is a JD/MBA candidate at the College of William & Mary Law and Business schools. Her areas of focus are corporate transactional law and general business management. In addition to her studies, Canavan is also a member of the Business Law Review and holds positions on the Graduate Business Honor Council, the Women’s Golf Clinic, the Public Speaking Club, and the Venture Capital and Entrepreneurship Legal Society.
The alumna speaker series will present young women with the opportunity to hear from alumnae throughout the semester, introducing them to various lives and careers and giving them the chance to interact with women in their field. All are invited to attend the talk.
