The Hobart College cross country team finished in third place out of seven teams in their own Hobart Invitational held at Seneca Lake State Park this afternoon. First-year Cal Randle led the Statesmen with a 10th place finish.
It’s the third race in a row that Randle has been the first Hobart finisher. This afternoon, Randle completed the 8-kilometer course in 28:53.7. Sophomore Michael Ledyard took 14th place in 29:12.4, and senior Wes Traub was right behind him taking 15th place in 29:13.9. First-year Jesse Schaffer was the next Statesmen to finish in 30:47.9 for 27th place. He was followed by sophomore Patrick Hatheway, who claimed 28th place in 30:58.5.
SUNYIT’s Derek Struck finished first out of 77 runners with a time of 27:19.7. SUNY-ESF took home the team title with 20 points. SUNYIT claimed second with 62 points and the Statesmen rounded out the top three teams with 72 points.
Hobart will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 28, when it competes in the Roberts Wesleyan Invitational in Chili, N.Y., at noon.
