John A. Hoff ’77 is returning to HWS on Friday, Nov. 8 to present a career talk, “Opportunities in Financial Services and How to Find One,” as part of the Professionals in Residence series hosted by the Salisbury Center for Career Services and Professional Development. The session will be held in Stern 117 at 3 p.m.
Based out of Stamford, Conn., Hoff is the director of short term markets and research and strategy for the U.S. investment banking group of the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS). He works on a number of initiatives, including business management, operational risks, strategic investment, regulatory compliance, and management information.
In his talk, Hoff will address several common pitfalls that new employees in the financial services field often encounter that can adversely affect their careers. After talking about the general job market in the field, he will discuss internship opportunities within RBS.
Hoff has three decades of experience in the field, with work that includes operational risk, strategic initiatives, regulatory compliance and management information.
At HWS, Hoff earned a degree in economics, was a member of Kappa Alpha and the HWS Sailing Team. He also holds a MBA in finance from Columbia University.
