HWS Habitat for Humanity will host the Mr. Hobart competition on Friday, Nov. 15, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in Albright Auditorium. Proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to the Ontario Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
“A lot of people know about Mr. Hobart, but they don’t realize that it’s really a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity,” says HWS Chapter President Emily Vollo ’14.
This year’s contestants come from all class years, which will create a fun competition for audience members. The contestants are Steve Gemmiti ’14, Ben Scheibel ’14, Dan Mahaney ’15, Jim Prowse ’15, Michael DeRosa ’16, Dennis O’Connell ’16, Vernon Lawson ’16, David Kidwell ’17 and Sam Solomon ’17.
Contestants will present a group dance as well as model sportswear, showcase a talent, and participate in a question and answer session.
Mr. Hobart “gets better every year,” says Vollo.
Mr. Hobart 2013 will be chosen by a panel of judges comprised of three staff and faculty members and three students. A new addition to this year’s events is the audience’s involvement in voting for Mr. Congeniality 2013.
Tickets for the event can be purchased for $5 in Scandling Campus Center during lunch and dinner hours, as well in the College Store with student charge, or at the door the night of the event.
