Led by Professor of Music Robert Cowles, the annual Madrigal Dinner Concert featuring the HWS Colleges Chorale and the smaller ensemble Cantori will take place at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 in the Vandervort Room of the Scandling Campus Center.
The Colleges Chorale is a mixed 35-voice ensemble of students whose auditions are evaluated on vocal technique and musicianship. The Chorale traditionally performs a wide a cappella repertoire — selections from the Middle Ages to the present day.
Cowles chairs the music department and has been a member of the faculty since 1992, directing choral ensembles and teaching music theory and conducting. He is also artistic director of the Syracuse Vocal Ensemble, a semi-professional chamber choir. He is known as a champion of new music, having conducted numerous world-premiere performances during his tenure at HWS.
Tickets for the event cost $30 for general admission, $15 for HWS students. They can be ordered online, Madrigal Dinner tickets, or by writing to email@example.com. Reservations must be placed by Monday, Dec. 2.
Proceeds from the five-course dinner event will benefit the HWS Performing Arts Initiative. In previous years, these benefits have raised more than $1,000 for area organizations including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Geneva and the Geneva Head Start program.
