Financial executive William J. Corkhill Jr. ’87 was presented with the Hobart and William Smith Career Services Award in recognition of his ongoing commitment to the Colleges’ internship program. Corkhill has served as head of equity syndicate at Janney Capital Markets since in 2002 in the firm’s Boston office. He is responsible for coordinating all public offerings for which the firm serves as an underwriter.
A loyal Hobart alumnus, he has hired a number of HWS interns, including four in the past two years, and continues to provide informational interviews with students. He also has been active with career services events in Boston and served as a past Reunion coordinator.
The award was presented during the Colleges’ annual holiday gathering event in Boston, on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
Prior to joining Janney, Corkhill spent five years with Boston-based Tucker Anthony Sutro. As managing director and head of equity syndicate, he coordinated more than 100 public offerings of equity and debt securities for firms across a range of industries. From 1991 to 1996, he was a senior professional in the equity capital markets group of Smith Barney in New York. Corkhill is a past board member of the Investment Association of New York and has been a member of the Securities Industry Association’s Syndicate Committee.
As a student, Corkhill earned a B.A. in political science,was a member of the soccer team and participated in a semester abroad program in Spain. He attended the Graduate School of Business at Fordham University, and holds Series 7, 9, 10, 24, 55 and 63 licenses.
He resides in Wellesley, Mass. with his wife Sheila and their four children.
