Hobart College sophomore goalie Lino Chimienti was selected the ECAC West Goalie of the Week by the conference office late yesterday. Sophomore Mac Olson and first-year Mitch Beyer earned spots on the league’s weekly honor roll.
Chimienti recorded a 1.50 goals against average and a .955 save percentage in 120:09 in goal over the weekend, helping Hobart defeat two nationally ranked and previously undefeated opponents in the Buck Supply Winter Classic in Plattsburgh, N.Y. He made a career-high 39 saves in the 3-1 victory over then No. 1 Plattsburgh in the championship on Saturday. On Friday, Chimienti played all 60:09 in goal and made a total of 24 saves in a 3-2 overtime win over then No. 7/5 Williams. He was one of four Statesmen to be named to the all-tournament team and was tabbed the MVP.
Chimienti is sporting a 2.47 GAA which ranks third in the ECAC West. He has also posted a .911 save percentage and a 4-3-3 record in goal this year.
In the victory over the Ephs, Olson notched the game winner just nine seconds into the extra period. He went on to chip in an empty net goal against the Cardinals. Olson also earned a spot on the all-tournament team. He leads Hobart with nine points on five goals and four assists this year. Olson is tied for sixth in the ECAC West in goals and is tied for 16th in points.
Beyer produced his first collegiate goal in Saturday’s championship game. Just 7:58 in, he found the back of the net to put the Statesmen up 1-0. Beyer was also selected to the all-tournament team.
Hobart (4-4-4) will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 10, when it travels to take on Nichols at 6:40 p.m. The Statesmen will also play at Salve Regina on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m.
