Brian Allen ’90 and Cynthia “Cricket” Fairbanks Allen ’92 were recently featured in an article in U.S. 1 newspaper for having launched their second business venture together. The two first formed Bot Beverages, which manufactured and marketed flavored water for children, but had to reposition it as an adult beverage following the recession of 2008. They eventually closed Bot, moving on to start Perfect Snaque a year and a half ago and, more recently, Drinkwater.
After graduating from William Smith, Cricket worked in New York City in advertising, where she did branding, particularly on point-of-sale advertising, for Tanqueray, Dom Perignon, and Moet Champagne.
After Hobart, Brian worked at a retail chain in Buffalo and went on to New York City.
When they launched Bot, it was a fast success, going national “overnight.” Their new product Snaque has intentionally taken the slower route with much more research and development, changes to product and packaging and in store testing.
“With Snaque, we have taken it much slower and are making sure the product is 100 percent right before we run. Now we are ready to run, and we are in a pretty good jog right now,” said Cricket.
Allen earned his B.A. in economics; Cricket earned her B.A. in political science. She was a member of the field hockey and lacrosse teams.
