Sankofa, the Black Student Union, will host its annual Charity Ball on Saturday, March 8, starting at 6 p.m. at the Ramada in Geneva. The doors open at 5 p.m.
Each year, members of Sankofa work to create a unique and vibrant program to celebrate the year-long efforts of the organization, as well as raise money for a charity decided on by the Sankofa board.
This year the funds raised by the ball will go toward a scholarship for Geneva high school students.
“Instead of picking an international organization, we wanted to stay within the community in an effort to bridge the gap between HWS and the Geneva community,” says Afrika Owes ’16, president of Sankofa.
The event will feature a silent auction and several performers from campus and the Geneva community, including poetry, dance, step and singing
Sankofa will be tabling in Scandling Campus Center this week to sell tickets, which are $10 each.
