The Herons and Statesmen lacrosse teams earned the right to host games on their HWS home turf of Boswell Field this weekend. Hobart, who captured the NEC regular season championship, are hosting the Northeast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Championship Tournament on May 4 and May 6, and William Smith, with its second straight and fifth overall Liberty League regular season title, are hosting the 2017 Liberty League tournament on May 5 and 6.

Hobart’s 5-1 record this season locked up hosting duties with Saturday’s 18-17 win at Robert Morris. The top-seeded Statesmen (8-6) will take on fourth-seeded Sacred Heart (9-5) in Thursday’s first semifinal at 1 p.m. No. 2 seed Bryant (8-7) will face No. 3 seed Robert Morris (9-6) in the second semifinal at 4 p.m. The winners will meet in the championship game on Saturday at noon.
As the top seed, the Herons will face the No. 4 Rochester (9-5) team on Friday, May 5, at 2 p.m. on Boswell Field. The other semifinal will feature No. 2 Skidmore (11-5) and No. 3 St. Lawrence (8-8). Opening draw is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Boswell Field. The winners of each semifinal will advance to the championship game on Saturday, May 6, at 4 p.m. The winner of the championship game will earn the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
The Herons bring a 16-1 overall record into Friday’s game. William Smith matched the program record for wins in a season and is currently riding a 13-game win streak.
Liberty League tournament games are free for all fans. Hobart’s game is free for students, faculty and staff with ID. Tickets are $8 for general admission, $4 for fans under 18 years old and free for children 10 and younger. Statesmen Athletic Association members will receive the same number of tickets they had for regular season Hobart home games.
At NEC tournament games, stop by the SAA tent and become a member. The tent will be open on Thursday for the semifinal games at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., and on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. Boswell Field parking lot is reserved for SAA members and the media. General parking is available in the Odell’s South, Barn, and Medbery lots, as well as at the Geneva Centre. Fan parking at nearby businesses or in the Odell’s North lot is prohibited and cars may be towed at the owner’s expense.
