Virtual Reunion 2021 FAQs
What will be the cost to participate in a virtual reunion?
While there is no charge to register for virtual reunion events, some programming may have a fee for tastings, cost of t-shirts, program add ons, etc., In addition, if you would like to make a gift to the Colleges Annual Fund you may do so here.
What if we were to push Reunion later in the summer?
No one celebrates Reunion like Hobart and William Smith! With that said, Reunion Weekend is a campus-wide endeavor that requires thoughtful coordination and collaboration among many departments and offices across the Colleges, as well as third party vendors and alum volunteers. We are also unable to guarantee that NYS COVID-19 restrictions will allow gathering safely in large numbers by early summer. There is also the additional challenge of getting the campus ready for the fall semester, which begins in late August.
Can I attend if I am not in a Reunion Year?
Yes, alums who are not celebrating a milestone Reunion are welcome to attend. However, some events are class specific, so please keep that in mind when registering for an event.
What will a virtual reunion celebration be like?
From Thursday, June 3 to Sunday, June 6, 2021, virtual reunion attendees will have opportunities to celebrate with fellow alums and classmates through a series of live and pre-recorded virtual events. The virtual reunion will be composed of a core program schedule of stimulating live and recorded talks by our distinguished faculty, administration, and a live class-specific virtual program for every class celebrating a reunion. A schedule for events will be shared with all registrants, and programs will be accessible on the Colleges website.
What will happen to the Reunion Fundraising efforts?
The generosity of alumni and alumnae celebrating their reunions each year makes a big impact for today’s students. Reunion Class Gifts give the Annual Fund an extra boost and directly support current student experiences by providing scholarships, in and out of classroom learning opportunities, leading academic programs, a wide breadth of extracurricular options and more. Your gift this year helps the Colleges and also counts for your Reunion Class Gift.
What will the class-specific events be like?
Classes celebrating a milestone reunion will have a private virtual event hosted by the Colleges. Staff are working closely with volunteers to determine what this program will be. We will communicate a full line-up as soon as they are determined.
Will the virtual events be recorded?
Yes. All virtual events taking place on Reunion Weekend will be recorded. The recording will be shared with alums as soon as they become available, but we encourage you to be with us in the moment to interact with our faculty and staff presenters, and – of course – each other.
