To showcase some of the finest scholarship done by seniors at Hobart and William Smith, the Colleges will host its first Senior Symposium on Friday, April 3.The event will include poster presentations as well as essay readings by students in nearly all disciplines taught at HWS. The presentations will occur from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. in Vandervort 1 and 2 as well as the Creedon Room.
In addition to these presentations, Karen George ’09 and Alexandra Berger ’09 will present three new choreographic works as part of the Senior Symposium in Dance at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 3 in Winn-Seeley Gym Theatre. Immediately following the performance, George and Berger will host a talkback session, where they will discuss their choreographic process and how their thoughts and observations of human interaction are reflected in their choreography.
Explaining this vanguard event, CTL Director Susan Pliner said that, “In this day of presentations by HWS Seniors, we will honor the best traditions of a liberal arts education, taking academics outside the classroom, giving individual academic passions a broad audience, and exchanging ideas among diverse HWS communities.”
She continued, “The Senior Symposium will promote a love of learning and encourage student engagement; we hope all HWS students will be inspired by this symposium, and that it will be the first of many.”
