As part of Family Weekend 2009, HWS will welcome musician David Binder and his show, “1969-The Year that Rocked the World,” a performance that takes the astounding events of 1969 and puts them in the context of the music that truly did rock the world.
Binder uses the music of timeless legends including Crosby, Stills and Nash; The Who; David Bowie; and The Beatles to illuminate an incredible time in music history.
Binder has been playing guitar since he was 7 years old, writing songs since he was 10, and singing as long as he can remember. He is more than just the ordinary solo performer; he holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Lowell School of Music and an honorary doctorate in musical philosophy from St. Lawrence University. He began his career in 1979 and has since performed across the country, including a national showcase in Nashville.
After touring college campus for 25 years and performing in more than 3,000 shows, Binder’s concerts have become a tradition for many colleges’ campuses throughout the country. In addition, he has been a Campus Entertainer of the Year nominee for 20 running and performs exclusively at college campuses and corporate events-when he isn’t playing for Club Med.
Binder will perform at HWS on Friday, Oct. 23, from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. in the Vandervort Room of Scandling Campus Center. Refreshments will be served.
