Take time to enjoy a performance of classical music, as Hobart and William Smith is joined by violinist Karine Stone and pianist EunMi Ko on Friday, Feb. 11, for a recital at 8 p.m. in the Geneva Room. The performance will feature music by Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms and Sergei Prokofiev.
Stone is an active recitalist, chamber musician, teacher, conductor and arts administrator. She was a member of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and has performed as acting concertmaster of the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as at the Santo Domingo, Todi, and Skaneateles Music Festivals. Stone often performs with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and was first violinist of the RPO Educational Quintet from 2002-2005. She currently acts as an instructor at the Eastman Community Music School.
Born and raised in Seoul, Korea, Ko has performed throughout North America, Asia and Oceania. Her most recent project, playing the complete Chopin etudes on a single program, captivated audiences in Rochester, Boston, South Carolina, and as far as New Zealand. She is currently studying for her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Eastman School of Music.
Admission to the one hour recital is free; however, donations will be gratefully accepted.
