HWS will host an Oxfam banquet in order to help raise money and awareness about world hunger on March 31. The banquet will take place at 6 p.m. and will be located in the faculty dining room. While steak is on the menu, not all attendees will see it on their plates.
At an Oxfam Banquet, 15 percent of the participants get a steak dinner, 30 percent get a spaghetti dinner, and 55 percent get bread, rice and water. These proportions are reflective of the distribution of food around the world. A program of discussion and activities that raise awareness about world poverty levels will accompany the banquet. The dinner is expected to be a moving experience for all of the participants, regardless of what they are given to eat.
Tickets cost $10 each and will only be made available to the first 100 individuals who sign up to participate. The entire $1,000 raised will go to Oxfam America.
