Statesmen Ranked No. 2 in the Nation

The Hobart College hockey team is ranked No. 2 in this week’s Poll. It’s the highest ranking the Statesmen have ever achieved in’s poll. Hobart also matched its highest ranking in the poll, moving up to No. 4 this week.

The Statesmen picked up two wins over Neumann last weekend to improve to 10-0-2 overall and 5-0-1 in the ECAC West. The 12-game unbeaten streak is the longest to start a season in Hobart hockey history. The Statesmen are one of just four unbeaten teams left in Division III.

Hobart ranks eighth in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 4.50 goals per game. The Statesmen defense is sixth in the country allowing 1.58 goals per game. Hobart ranks fifth in scoring margin (2.92), is tied for 11th on the power play (26.7%) and 13th in penalty kills (88.1 %).

Senior goalie Nick Broadwater ranks fourth in the nation in goals against average (1.22) and eighth in save percentage (.947).  Senior Frank Salituro leads Hobart with 17 points this season. He ranks second in the ECAC West in points and sits atop the league in goals (9), and power-play goals (5). Salituro is tied for third in power-play points (7) and tied for seventh in assists (8). Senior Bobby Hannah and sophomore Ryan Michel have produced a team-high nine assists this season, tying them for third in the ECAC West. Michel also shares the conference lead in defenseman scoring (2-9-11).

The Statesmen host two games this week. Hobart will take on Buffalo State on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m., and then host No. 2/3 Oswego at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8. Both games will be broadcast live by WHWS-FM (105.7).
