On Sunday, Nov. 10, the Salisbury Center for Career Services and Professional Development is sponsoring a workshop, “Finance 101,” a crash course presented by two executives of Helping Individuals Reach Excellence (HIRE). Michael Piper, CEO and founder, and Marc Borden ’07, senior vice president, will help those who are interested in working on Wall Street, but don’t necessarily know what positions would suit them. The event takes place from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. in Stern 103.
Piper and Borden will help differentiate between the “buy” side and the “sell” side of Wall Street; help students learn to be more financially literate before a big job interview, and help those who need to figure out the different parts of an investment bank.

Borden ’07 began his finance career as a sell-side credit research analyst for J.P. Morgan in New York, focusing on corporate high-grade cash bonds and credit derivatives. In 2009, he moved into the trading space and in 2010, he founded Omni Point Capital, LLC, a private fund which specialized in macroeconomic trading strategies. After selling his stake in Omni Point in 2012, Borden took over as head of Capital Markets for NBL, Inc., a private equity funded commercial real-estate lender. He is a CFA Charterholder. Borden majored in economics and minored in public policy at Hobart College.
