Brad Richard ’13 Succeeds in Pro Hockey

Former Hobart College hockey defenseman Brad Richard ’13 is enjoying a successful rookie season playing for the Alaska Aces. The Aces are a part of the East Coast Hockey League and are the affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames.

Richard signed with the Aces in September. He has played in 34 games and has recorded three goals and 17 assists for 20 points. Richard ranks 13th in the league in defensemen scoring.

He is the top-ranked of just three rookies in the top 20. In addition, Richard is tied for third among rookies in plus-minus at +16. The Aces currently sit in first place in the Mountain Division.

A two-year captain for the Statesmen, Richard was selected the ECAC West Defensive Player of the Year after his senior season and was named an AHCA East All-American.

A four-time All-ECAC West honoree, Richard played in 97 career games at Hobart and logged 22 goals and 42 assists for 64 points. He garnered honors twice and was named to the ECAC West All-Tournament Team after helping the Statesmen to their second ever ECAC West Tournament title in 2012.
