The William Smith College Athletic Department will honor Head Coach Aliceann Wilber and the Heron soccer program on reaching the 500 win mark during Homecoming & Family Weekend. An open house in the Heron Hall of Honor and a pregame presentation will be held Saturday, Oct. 3.
Prior to the start of the William Smith soccer game vs. Skidmore, a presentation will begin at approximately 1:45 p.m., with the match starting at 2 p.m. In addition, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., fans, alumni and program supporters are invited to an open house in the Heron Hall of Honor in Winn-Seeley Gym to celebrate the program’s tremendous achievement. Alumnae and parents are encouraged to register for Homecoming & Family Weekend events at www.hws.edu/homecoming.
The Heron soccer program and Wilber earned win No. 500 on Sept. 20 with a 1-0 victory over Rochester at the Yellowjacket’s Fauver Stadium. Wilber, now in her 36th season, holds a record of 500-129-56. Only two coaches in NCAA women’s soccer history have reached the 500-win mark, both in Division I, North Carolina’s Anson Dorrance (736) and UConn’s Len Tsantiris (533). Wilber is the first Division III women’s soccer coach and the first female coach in all divisions of NCAA soccer to reach the 500-win plateau.
