Lucas Talks Presidential Election in Rochester

An expert on American legislative politics and political parties, institutions and behavior, DeWayne Lucas, associate dean of faculty and associate professor of political science, joined a community panel discussion “Why Vote in a Presidential Election?” hosted by the Rochester Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority.

The panel was held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 28 at New Bethel CME Church, 270 Scio St. in Rochester. The event was open to the public.

The panel and attendees had the chance to discuss voting in this year’s Presidential Election. The Rev. Weldon Thomas, pastor of New Bethel CME Church, also served on the panel. A video clip from the Sept. 26 presidential debate of Secretary Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump was shown as part of the program.

Lucas joined the HWS Political Science Department in 2000 and has been a member of the Africana Studies program, the American Studies program and the LGBT Studies program.
