GENEVA, N.Y.-Students from Hobart and William Smith Colleges will join with students from Geneva High School and DeSales High School in sponsoring a walk for hunger from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, September 29, at Seneca Lake Trail. The walk will begin at the Board of Education on Exchange Street (across from the ice skating rink). Proceeds from the event will benefit the Community Lunch Program in Geneva.
The Community Lunch Program provides hot lunches Monday through Friday to those in need. Everyone in the community is invited to participate in the walk. Application forms are available through the Office of Public Service on the Hobart and William Smith Colleges campus by calling (315) 781-3825. Walkers are asked to collect their pledges before the walk and to hand in donations at the registration table on Saturday.
Hobart and William Smith Colleges are coordinate, private, liberal arts institutions with a combined enrollment of 1,800 students. The Colleges offer a remarkably broad array of majors and minors, with a cross-disciplinary flavor intended to better inform both professional and intellectual pursuits. The Colleges are noted also for an ambitious emphasis on international study, and for their programs in community service. Hobart College for men and William Smith College for women share faculty, facilities, and curriculum, but maintain separate dean's offices, athletics programs, student governments, and traditions.
