GENEVA, N.Y.—Free cello concerts, given by students of the International Ithaca Violoncello Institute, will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 14 and 21, in Hirshson Ballroom on the Hobart and William Smith Colleges campus, 141 St. Clair Street. An additional concert will be given at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 27, in Albright Auditorium on the HWS campus. The Grand Finale concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 3, in Hirshson Ballroom.
Five students, from Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, and Hong Kong, are taking part in the Institute, taught and directed by cellist Einar Holm. They will be accompanied in concert by noted local pianist Meg Heaton.
Holm, who retired from Ithaca College after teaching cello and chamber music there 27 years, graduated from The Juilliard School. He has performed with orchestras and chamber groups, and has given solo recitals throughout North and South America, Europe, and southeast Asia.
These events are free and open to the public.
