PEHR Students Present Diversity Training

Peer Education in Human Relations students Lervan Johnny, Feven Yohannes, Dane Miller, Ali Stubbins, Will Georgi, Jasmin Power, Tina Carrasquillo, Nicole Budniewski, Dan Cesere, and Carmen Genao conducted a diversity training for more than 100 Rochester Americorp volunteers on Sept. 18 in Rochester. The facilitators of PEHR incorporate a variety of teaching tools, both traditional and innovative. They include lectures, readings, statistics, journal assignments, personal stories and experiences, and speak-outs.

The peer education in human relations program provides students with a deep, personally grounded understanding of issues of diversity and oppression, as well as experience in linking analysis to action.
