Identity Fraud Warning – Hobart and William Smith Colleges \
The HWS Update

Identity Fraud Warning

Some students on the Colleges campus have received calls from individuals posing as questioners for a survey, asking students for confidential information, including their social security numbers. No member of the campus community should divulge his or her social security number except for tax purposes or financial aid, and never over the telephone or on unknown forms. Giving out a social security number leads to identity fraud, a fast growing source of crime. Please contact the appropriate Dean's office if you have received one of these calls in recent days or if you have further questions. The William Smith Dean's Office can be reached at ext. 3467 and the Hobart Dean's Office can be reached at ext. 3300.
