Local high school students will join Hobart and William Smith in concert
(Dec. 1, 2004) GENEVA, N.Y.–For their winter celebration, the Hobart and William Smith Colleges woodwind and string ensembles will be joined by students from Geneva High School. They will present their winter concert at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at St. John's Chapel. The Woodwind Ensemble, directed by John Oberbrunner, will perform works by Rachmaninoff, Haydn and others. The String Ensemble, directed by Andrew Zaplatynsky, will perform works by Mouret, J.S. Bach and Handel. The concert is free and open to the public.
Members of the string ensemble are violinists Zaplatynsky; sophomore Liane Gray, from Woodstock, Conn.; first-year Jesse Philips, from Amherst, Mass.; Geneva student Emma Greenspon; violists first-year Kyriakos Christoudoulou, from Whitestone, N.Y.; Geneva student Emma Meigs; and local cellist Einar Holm.
Members of the woodwind ensemble are bassoonist junior Carly Cassano, from Williamsville, N.Y.; clarinetist junior Katrina Charysyn, from Westkill, N.Y.; flutist Gray, and first-year Nicole Henderson, from North Tonawanda, N.Y., who plays French horn.
