For the first time four dance faculty will perform in the same concert
Four HWS faculty will showcase their talents at a contemporary dance concert on Saturday, Aug. 11 in Brockport, N.Y. Professors Cynthia Williams and Donna Davenport, Assistant Professor Michelle Iklé and Associate Professor Cadence Whittier were invited to participate in the concert organized by internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Bill Evans.
Evans witnessed the talents of the HWS dance faculty while serving as an external evaluator for the annual faculty dance concert in April. “I am delighted that the Greater Rochester audiences will be able to experience the work of these exciting artists, he said.
Davenport and Iklé will perform the strikingly visual “Inside the Box; Whittier will perform her whimsical solo, “Off; and Williams will perform a new work, which she has based on movement phrases created for her by several dancer friends.
“Evans’ praise for the dance faculty is a tribute to the great things that are happening in the HWS Dance Department, said Whittier. “It is an honor to be recognized in such a manner, and it is exciting that all four dance faculty are performing in the same concert for the first time.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. at SUNY Brockport’s Hartwell Hall. Tickets will be available at the door at 7 p.m. The cost is $20 for patrons, $10 for adults, $8 for college students and $5 for children.
The concert will also feature performing artists from SUNY Brockport; Seattle, Wash.; Fort Worth, Texas; and Las Cruces, N.M.
