Colleges Brass Ensemble plans performance

Holiday favorites by Leroy Anderson and J.S. Bach will be presented at a concert by the Colleges Brass Ensemble, beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 in St. John’s Chapel.

Directed by Jim Trowbridge, the group will feature Bach's “Fugue in G Minor,” and “Air from Suite No. 3,” and Anderson's “Bugler's Holiday” and the beloved “Sleigh Ride.” The 16-member group includes HWS students, a faculty member and community residents.

Trowbridge, an adjunct instructor of music at the Colleges, holds a bachelor's of music education from Ithaca College and a master's in performance with an emphasis in conducting from Louisiana State University at Lafayette. He also teaches instrumental music at Midlakes High School in Phelps.

In addition to teaching, he performs regularly with the Midlakes Brass Quintet, and has presented concerts with the Greater Rochester Music Educators Wind Ensemble, the Binghamton Philharmonic, the University of Southwestern Louisiana Faculty Brass Quintet as well as the Utica, Catskill, and Acadiana Symphony orchestras.

Hosted by the HWS Department of Music, the concert is free and open to the public.
