Geneva Theater Guild Youth Theater presents “Once on This Island,”
at 7 p.m. TODAY (Friday) at the Smith Opera House in downtown Geneva.
The cast includes more than 50 local area students, grades 4 through 12 in the junior version of the Broadway play of the same name.
This Caribbean-themed musical features a catchy, contemporary score by the songwriting team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
Those in leading roles are Bridget Saracino as Ti Moune, Chris Boyd as Daniel, Maren Reisch as Erzulie (Goddess of Love), Trevor Burrall as Agwe (God of Water), and Adam Fryer as Papa Ge (Demon of Death).
Ronnie Colon plays Ti Moune’s father Tonton Julian; her mother, Mama Euralie, is played by Erinne Carney and Hillary Rich is Asaka (Mother of Earth).
The storytellers are Connor Lapresi, Geena Ravashiere, Hannah Schoonover and Alexandria Shultz. Rounding out the principals are Kayla Boyd as Andrea, Josh Beniamino as Daniel's father, Daniel Shultz as Daniel's son, Kennedy Moore as Little Ti Moune and Lucas Reisch as Gatekeeper.
Pam Rapoza is directing the show, with musical direction by Chris Sauter.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and $4 for youths under 18, and are available in Geneva at the Smith Opera House, Martin Music, Don’s Own Flowers, the HWS Store, on the web at www.gtglive.org, and at the door.
