3 Herons tabbed All-Americans

Three Herons were named to the 2017 D3soccer.com All-America teams as announced by the website late yesterday. Junior midfielder Megan Barwick was named to the first team, senior forward Evie Manning was voted to the second team and senior defender Katherine Campbell was selected to the third team.

Barwick posted career-highs in every stat category in 2017. She ranked second on the team with 31 points and 12 goals and shared a team-high with seven assists. Barwick dished out four game-winning goals. She notched a season-high four points twice. First she logged a goal and two assists in a 5-1 victory over Skidmore and then she scored two goals in a 5-0 NCAA tournament win over Lasell.

This season Barwick was named a first team Scholar All-American and a second team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches. She was also tabbed All-East first team and Scholar All-East first team by the United Soccer Coaches. Barwick garnered All-Liberty League first team and Liberty League All-Tournament Team honors. She was also named to the league’s all-academic team.

In 61 career games, Barwick has produced 38 career points on 15 goals and eight assists.

Manning led the Liberty League with 13 goals, including five game winners, seven assists and 33 points. She notched at least a point in 13 games, chipping in two or more points in 11 of those contests. Manning produced a season-high five points, having a hand in every goal, in a 3-0 win over Ithaca.

Manning was selected a United Soccer Coaches first team All-American and garnered first team All-East accolades. She was voted the Liberty League Player of the Year and named to the all-conference first team. In addition, Manning earned a spot on the Liberty League All-Tournament team.

In 83 career games, Manning posted 83 points on 32 goals and 19 assists. She finished her Heron soccer career tied for 12th on the William Smith list for career points, tied for 13th in career assists and tied for 14th in career goals.

Campbell played a key role in the Heron’s stifling defense. She also added an assist this fall. Cambpell set up the Herons’ third goal against Lasell. She led William Smith to 15 shutouts in 2017 which is tied for seventh on the Heron single season list. William Smith finished the season ranked fourth in the nation with a 0.29 goals against average and 10th with a .714 shutout percentage. Campbell and William Smith limited their opponents to just six goals all season.

Campbell was named a first team CoSIDA Academic All-American and collected CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. She was tabbed a United Soccer Coaches third team Scholar All-American. Campbell was also named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East second team and the United Soccer Coaches All-East first team. She garnered All-Liberty League honorable mention and earned a spot on the conference’s all-academic team.

In 76 career games, Campbell registered six points on a goal and four assists. In her four years, the Herons notched 61 shutouts.

William Smith finished 2017 ranked No. 6 by D3soccer.com and No. 7 in the nation in the final United Soccer Coaches poll. William Smith went 19-2-0 overall, advancing to the NCAA tournament third round. The Herons were a perfect 9-0 in Liberty League play and secured their 11th straight league regular season and tournament titles.
