Why I Give

I give to Hobart and William Smith Colleges because to whom much is given, much is required. It is my duty to ensure that fellow Herons and Statesmen are blessed to flourish and be nurtured in community where asking "why" is the norm, and not an act of defiance. HWS showed me the world, so now I am able to live a life of consequence. Countless professors, administrators, staff, and peers transformed my educational journey for me to view every obstacle as a way to overcome. Due to the multitude of experiences I received, I strive on a daily basis with my sixth graders to see injustice, but yearn for justice, to not conform to their circumstance, but see the endless possibilities for their lives. I give because I look forward to the day that one of my students will attend HWS, a place that has made a dynamic impact on my life.
