“I give to Hobart and William Smith because the Colleges have contributed so positively to my life. First, I received an outstanding liberal arts education, which has served me very well professionally and personally, as the ability to think critically and write convincingly are skills that are essential in an age when information is ubiquitous and knowledge is transient. The direct access to outstanding professors will always stand out in my mind as the distinguishing characteristic of the Colleges. Second, I formed most of my closest friendships during my four years at HWS--the people with whom I share tight bonds and communicate with regularly, 35+ years after graduating! Finally, I believe that it is an obligation of those who benefited in the past to enable future generations of economically disadvantaged students to take advantage of HWS' excellent education.”
