Johnson Quoted on Workers’ Unions

According to the article “A century of unions: Members, leaders think they're still misunderstood” in the Dec. 1 Finger Lakes Times, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters is celebrating 100 years of existence. Cedric Johnson, assistant professor of political science, doesn't think labor organizations deserve their bad reputation.

“There are a number of things in America we take for granted like minimum wage, safety standards, and a right to work a job to give you some security,” Johnson said. “These things were made possible through unions' struggle to reform workplaces and public policy.”
