‘Dershowitz Protocol’ to open theatre’s New Perspectives series

The Downstairs Cabaret Theatre in Rochester will kick off its New Perspectives series this weekend with productions of the play, “The Dershowitz Protocol,” by Robert Fothergill.

Organizers have designed the series to focus on current social issues and encourage a forum for discussion in a non-confrontational, yet dynamic, theatre setting.

“The Dershowitz Protocol,” which runs Friday, Sept. 22 through Sunday, Oct. 14, has been described as “a provocative, real-time drama in the style of '24,' that examines the question 'is torture justified if it prevents another 9/11 attack?'”

Each performance will be followed by audience discussion with the director and actors. Tickets for this event are $15-18, with discounts for groups, students and senior citizens.

The show will open on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and is 50 minutes long. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling (585) 325-4370.

Details on this show and others are available by visiting DownstairsCabaret.
