The Geneva Theatre Guild will present the Pulitzer Prize winning play, “The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, Saturday the 21st and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22 at the Sons of Italy Lodge, 31 Prospect Ave., Geneva.
Written by Paul Zindel, this touching drama is the story of a dysfunctional family: Beatrice, the strident, bitter mother, who struggles with life and the challenge of raising two daughters; Tillie, who finds salvation in science projects at school; and precocious, epileptic Ruth.
Michelle Caward of Stanley heads the cast as the mother. Kate Duprey of Phelps is the quiet, studious Tillie; Kiley Conklin of Geneva portrays the deeply troubled Ruth. Veteran actress Eleanor Stearns of Geneva, is Nanny, the elderly boarder caught in the family's struggles. Erin Ruth Logan of Phelps completes the cast as Janice Vickery, Tillie's rival in the science fair.
The production is directed by Ed Scutt of Rochester, an award-winning director, actor and playwright.
General admission tickets are $12 and $10 for students, senior citizens and Sons of Italy Members. Tickets are on sale in Geneva at Area Records, Don's Own Flowers, Sons of Italy Lodge and the UPS store and the Copy Shop in Seneca Falls.
