Soprano Renee Heitmann, an applied instructor in voice in the HWS music department, will present her Finger Lakes debut concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10 at St. Peter's Church.
“Moonlit Impressions of Spring,” with pianist Troy Slocum, an applied instructor in piano and a member of the faculty of the St. Peter's Community Arts Academy, will explore song texts that use the moon as inspiration.
Several styles of music will be featured at the concert, from impressionists such as Debussy and Fauré to popular jazz standards including “Fly Me to the Moon” and “Moonlight in Vermont.”
Heitmann joined the HWS faculty in August 2006 and holds a bachelor of music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J., and a master of music from Temple University in Philadelphia, both in voice performance. Her latest opera role was as Mabel in the Geneva Theatre Guild's production of Gilbert and Sullivan's “Pirates of Penzance,” in July 2006 at the Smith Opera House.
Tickets are $9 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $6 for students, and free to those under 12. For details, call (315 789-0106.
