The Geneva Theatre Guild will present Playwrights Playreadings 2007 on Friday, April 13, Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15 at the Geneva Public Library, 244 Main St.
This annual production will feature three unpublished one-act plays in a readers' theatre presentation.
The first show, “Silver Threads,” by Leslie Hayertz of West Linn, Ore., is about a different way to celebrate a 60th birthday. Directed by Kathy Mater of Newark, it features Eileen Farrar of Penn Yan and Judith McMillan of Victor.
“Mourning Calls,” by Troy Shearer of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., shows what happens when a faithful man makes a big mistake. Directed by Ariel Mcnaney of Geneva, the comedy features Brenton Stearns and Doreen Hovey of Geneva, Rob Litchfield of Pulteney and Farrar.
The final play, “Soul Switching,” by Jim Gustafson of Wheaton, Ill., tells of God's new idea for solving overcrowding in Heaven. Directed by Eleanor Stearns of Geneva, the show features Genevans Barb Trani, Simeon B. Goldstein, Dan Chacchia and Hovey; Tom Nichols of Waterloo, Joanne Saracino of Phelps, Bob Bittner of Palmyra and Hugh Mater of Newark.
After the presentations, members of the audience will have the opportunity to discuss each play with the directors and actors. Playwright Hayertz is also expected to attend the presentations. Light refreshments will be available.
Curtain time is at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 and tickets are on sale at Area Records, Don's Own Flowers, Geneva Public Library and the UPS Store, all in Geneva.
