The Dalai Lama will visit Ithaca on Tuesday, Oct. 9 and Wednesday the 10th. In addition to three public appearance, he will visit bless the Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies, now under construction off Route 96B.
Tickets for his Oct. 9 talk at Cornell University range in price from $20 to $125 and are now available by visiting Namgyal.
On Wednesday, Oct. 10, he will present “Dharma Talk: Eight Verses on Training the Mind” at Ithaca College, and will lead an interfaith dialogue at the State Theater.
The 14th Dalai Lama is the spiritual and temporal leader of the Tibetan people; he has reigned since 1950 and has been in exile in India for most of that time. Winner of the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize, he has led the decades-long struggle against Chinese occupation of Tibet.
