Seneca Community Players will hold auditions for men and women of all ages to act in its summer musical production, “The Sound of Music,” starting at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 14 and Tuesday the 15th at the Women's Interfaith Institute, 140 Fall St., Seneca Falls. Callbacks will be Wednesday, May 16.
The final collaborative effort of the legendary Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, the play follows a young woman who seems too high-spirited for the religious life and is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed Austrian naval captain. The story was the basis of the 1965 film starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.
Directed by Kimberly Brown, the musical will be presented Thursday, July 26 through Sunday the 29th at Waterloo High School.
Those planning to audition should be prepared to sing at least 16 bars of a Broadway-style song and to dance for some roles. Some music will be available on site and copies of the script will be provided for the acting portion. Would-be actors should also take a list of potential rehearsal conflict dates as the rehearsal schedule will be announced at the auditions.
For details or more information, call Brown at (315) 568-1961. Details on the company are available at SCP.
