The chairperson and committee of the American Civil War Memorial Project in Waterloo are now looking for a summer intern to serve as executive assistant.
Responsibilities will include assisting with operations and special projects of an expanding organization with community volunteers, providing general office support (including scheduling, correspondence, administrative coordination and prioritizing) taking minutes at committee meetings and managing communication among members, maintaining paper and electronic records and other duties as assigned by the chairperson.
Requirements include excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to organize volunteers, donors, supporters and other groups, often under pressure, and while maintaining confidentiality and a professional attitude. Candidates must have computer skills including Microsoft Office Suites.
The person chosen must also demonstrate an ability to perform successfully with minimal direct supervision and have his or her own transportation. An interest in United States history — specifically the Civil War and its local impact — is recommended.
