The Geneva Theatre Guild will present “La Cage aux Folles,” at 8 p.m. Friday, July 13 and Saturday the 14th, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15 at the Smith Opera House, 82 Seneca St.
This production of the Tony Award-winning musical (book by Harvey Fierstein and lyrics and music by Jerry Herman) is directed by Steve Duprey. The story was made into a movie, “The Birdcage,” starring Robin Williams and Nathan Lane and directed by Mike Nichols, and focuses on a gay couple — Georges, the manager of a nightclub featuring drag entertainment; and Albin, his star attraction — and the adventures that ensue when Georges' son brings home his fiancé's ultra-conservative parents to meet them.
