Geneva Theatre Guild Seeks Plays for 2008 Season

The Geneva Theatre Guild is now looking for area residents with stage directing experience, who would like to direct productions for the Guild's 2008 season.

Planning Committee Chair Eleanor Stearns said proposals are being sought for the spring dinner theatre production, which may be a musical revue, mystery or comedy; the summer musical at the Smith Opera House in July and the October production at the Sons of Italy Home — a comedy or drama.

The group's inaugural Theatre After Hours event was so well received that it's being added for the 2008 season. This is an evening of three or four one-act plays, with a slightly edgy theme.

Those interested in proposing a full-length play, a one-act play for Theatre After Hours, or a musical should submit a synopsis of the show, director's concept, cast requirements, script (if available) and as many of the production staff as possible. For musicals, the proposal should include names of the music director and choreographer.

Proposals should be mailed to Season Planning Committee, Geneva Theatre Guild, P.O. Box 424, Geneva, NY 14456. For details, call Stearns at (315) 789-8985.

The deadline for submissions is Saturday, Sept. 8.
