A documentary film, “God Grew Tired of Us,” will be shown starting at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 in the sanctuary of Geneva's First United Methodist Church, 340 Main St. — where the Community Lunch Program meets.
Students, faculty and staff are invited to learn more about the story of “The Lost Boys,” a group of refugees displaced from Southern Sudan during the civil war in that country, and the Southern Sudan Health Projects group, a collaborative project among several United Methodist congregations and the “Lost Boys of Sudan” who live in Syracuse.
The goal of the group is to develop community-based systems to improve health in Southern Sudan, and sending an assessment team to the region of Bor in Southern Sudan in early 2008. The group will work to determine critical health care needs and identify local leaders willing to collaborate on projects to increase access to clean water, prevent disease, train health care providers and improve educational opportunities.
All are invited to the screening.
