Fire Department selling calendars as benefit

The Geneva Fire Department is now selling 17-month calendars to benefit Fire Fighter Jeremy Lathey, who was severely burned in a fire in April 2007.

Calendars run from January 2008 through May 2009 and are $15 each; checks should be made payable to Geneva Firematics and all proceeds will go to Lathey's recovery fund.

Lathey, 21, a volunteer firefighter with Geneva's Nester Hose Company, was restoring a classic car when an explosion and fire occurred. He was rescued by his father, Lt. Steve Lathey, also a member of the Nesters, and spent several months in the burn unit at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, and underwent several surgeries, including the amputation of both arms.

Now at home with his parents, he is receiving daily therapy as he continues his recovery efforts.

Calendars are available through Ken DeBolt in Winn-Seeley, at Trombley Tire and Auto on Exchange Street or Pedulla's Liquor Store in the Geneva Center Plaza on Hamilton Street.
