William Smith College junior Becky Josefiak (West Seneca East/West Seneca, N.Y.) was named the Liberty League Women’s Lacrosse Co-Defensive Performer of the Week today by the league office. This is the second week in a row she has won the award. A goalkeeper, Josefiak posted a 9.56 goals against average and a .531 save percentage in three games last week. She picked up eight saves in the Herons’ 9-4 win over Nazareth on Tuesday, stopped six shots in a loss to fifth-ranked Hamilton on Friday, and collected 12 saves in a 12-9 win over Rochester on Saturday. Josefiak owns a 9-1 record in net and ranks third in the Liberty League in both goals against average (9.24) and save percentage (.488). William Smith, currently ranked 11th in Division III, holds a 12-1 overall record. The Herons will be back in action tomorrow, April 22, when they travel to Ithaca (5-3) for a non-league contest at 5 p.m.
