Before you throw it away…

Moving out but can’t seem to fit all of your stuff in your car? Or maybe you can fit it all, but would rather not. Donate items someone else may want to the Third Annual HWS Community Barn Sale. The benefits of the event are twofold: the barn sales are in keeping with the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, which encourages donation of surplus materials rather than disposal that will result in additional waste in landfills; and, proceeds from the May 22 sale will be donated to agencies of the United Way of Ontario County. The first barn sale saw hundreds of shoppers and raised $2,500. This year the benefit raised more than $5,000. Any unwanted appliances, furniture, utensils, clean unwanted clothes and unopened, non-perishable food will be accepted at various drop-off locations around campus. Items must be unbroken and of use to someone else. Food and clothes will be donated to local food pantries and clothes closets and all other items will be sold at the Barn Sale.
