The 2008 Orientation Coordinators have been chosen! After a long selection process and several interviews, Alexandra Bowers ’09 and Brendan Csaposs ’09 have been selected to coordinate Orientation Weekend activities for the incoming first-years, the Classes of 2012. “I had an awesome experience during my Orientation,” says Csaposs. “I made some amazing friends that I am still really close to and had a great time. I hope to welcome the Classes of 2012 with an impression that’s just as amazing as mine was.” Bowers agrees. “I made a lot of friends and got to know and understand what Hobart and William Smith Colleges were all about. I want to pass down my positive experience to the Classes of 2012.” Since accepting the positions, Bowers and Csaposs have been working closely with the Orientation Committee to plan, organize and execute Orientation Weekend. “It’s a really exciting process,” says Bowers. “Brendan and I are working together with great staff members to craft an Orientation experience that’s a well-balanced combination of the both of us and the Colleges!” Though details are still in the works, new additions and activities for this year’s Orientation Weekend are being planned, including efforts to reduce the environmental impact of the event. “We are going to be adding some great new activities for first-years to experience that will make this Orientation a lot of fun,” says Bowers. Bowers is a mathematics major with a double minor in education and Spanish and Hispanic studies. She is also enrolled in the unique HWS education program, focusing in secondary education with a concentration in math. Bowers is a member of the William Smith Crew team, an acquaintance rape awareness facilitator, a member of the Student Athletics Advisory Committee and a volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club of Geneva. Csaposs is a double-major in music and lesbian, gay and bisexual studies, and he minors in peer education and human relations. He is currently the corresponding secretary and community service chair for Delta Chi fraternity. Csaposs is also the co-president of the HWS Pride Alliance, tenor section leader for the HWS Colleges Chorale and a DJ at WEOS-FM, the Colleges’ Radio station.
