On Friday, Sept. 19, The William Smith Dean’s Office will kick-off the 2008-2009 academic year by hosting the Opening Day Dinner exactly 100 years to the day that William Smith College first opened its doors. The deans office invites all William Smith students to the dinner as well the parents of those students being inducted into the Laurel Society.
The William Smith Opening Day Dinner is a yearly tradition, celebrating the opening of the school year and giving public recognition to those students being inducted to the Laurel Society, the sophomore and junior honors society. This year, dinner will be held in the Vandervort Room of the newly renovated Scandling Campus Center.
Speakers will include William Smith Dean Cerri Banks and members of the Hai Timiai Senior Honor Society. Additionally, in a special centennial segment, William Smith students donning the garb of the Class of 1912 will offer reflections from the perspective of the inaugural William Smith Class.
